Wow, 600 mile range? Do you have an additional or long range tank? I remember my old family suburban and we could get about 500 out of it and that was a 2wd.

Doesn't sound that far fetched? Never had a '99 but I think the range in the 2000 and 2009 Suburbans I had were about that?

The $900 (initial price) truck made it to Yosemite! Past 5,000 miles since getting it. Lets gloss over the fact that it took 30 minutes to start on that very cold morning ?
Interesting. We had a 91 and a 94 and got in the upper 400's lower 500's with all hwy. We used to get upper 300's to mid 400's in the city. Ive been looking at getting a late 90's to mid-2000's suburban for the family.

Maybe TBI 350's were harder on gas? Maybe smaller tanks in the older one? ?♂️ Both my 2000 and 2009 had 5.3's.
Yeah maybe. We had the large gal tank in both(was a requirement for my dad) over 40. I think the 5.7's were much more thirsty than the 5.3's. Another reason why I'd like to get a 5.3 instead.

My '89 3500 TBI 3500 got 12mpg every tank. 2wd stock gearing and tires. I took it up to the San Pedro Martir mts. in Baja one time. 65 miles of crosswash x2. Needed tie rod ends and the steering box loosened up. That year had the defective valve guides so the heads came off at maybe 5K.
I can say it freighted,used no oil after the valve guide,great brakes and started every time.

I had one of these with a straight 6 and 3 on the tree in high school. I loved that truck.
