Took the "new" 8.1L burb out for its first camping trip right above my house on Kendrick Mesa 11200 ft. Late next morning temp dropped to 43 degrees and started hailing hard which is when I discovered the heater core is shot. Locals call this hell road, so rough it takes 2+ hours to go 16 miles and thats pushing it, tires aired down etc. I found you cannot safely navigate a hard rock road when you can't see it at all due to a fogged windshield lol. While it's in the shop might as well stick a 3" lift under it, could have really used that extra clearance in a few spots. One cool thing about heater cores in these rigs, they pretty much install themselves...

There is video on YouTube Duramax hummer racing against early 2000s Porsche, beats the Porsche. In 1/4 mile race.
I would think that duramax puts out 1000lb torque to move 7000lb truck 12 second 1/4 mile.

For overland travel 6.5 TD is just perfect.
Clunk clunk slow but simple and cheap in parts.
When I bought the engine it had 22.000 miles on it, now I have 1200 hours on hour meter, no more ODO.

before and after pictures of the truck.
Truck went to Kuwait in 1991 and came back, it’s an actual war veteran truck ?
It was all written Arabic on it.
Serial number 4600, one of the first humvees made in 1985.

My mechanic had one of these "returned" Hummers come in for some work. It had been rebuilt, rhino lined inside, looked great etc. When he put it on the lift he found multiple bullet holes in the floor board, fired from the inside down and out.

The white excursion is mine. I plan to build it up a little at a time.
The gold excursion is my wife’s.
Both are daily drivers.

Do you own a gas station? ?
Cool trucks. Always wanted a diesel excursion. I’ve seen a couple fully built ones and there are awesome.

No gas station.
Both are v-10 4x4 excursions

Around town they get approximately 9mpg.
However out on the highway I regularly see 15-16mpg. And that is better than my two 5.4 expeditions they replaced.
Replaced a 97 and a 03 expeditions.

My 15 passenger van gets 18-20 on the highway.

No but I do foster care.
I have 5 kids but with foster care I have had as many as 9 kids in my house.
My wife was the 7th of 10 kids ---- when we all get together and one of the nieces shouts "uncle", there's about 18 of us answering "what?"
