Let's see your GMT800s!

It looks like I might be selling my '06 F-250 for an '01 Silverado project (Which should still be cheaper to get where I want it than the F-250 is already, and won't be quite the gas-sucking behemoth that the Ford will always be), so once I get it's main issue fixed (Blown ABS controller), I want to build it up a little. So, let's see those GMT800 trucks for a little inspiration.

No major mods yet but lift/level kit is in the works, soon to be followed by new tires (most likely BFG KO2's in 285/75/16).

Cost-wise the priciest mod so far was having the instrument cluster rebuilt, lights replaced with green LEDs and a trans temp gauge added:

Also replaced the failed crappy factory fog lights with Amazon.com $25 LEDs:

Johnston,
2 questions,

Did you trim your chrome bumper after removing the plastic?

Are those Hutchinsons or 24 bolt Hummer wheels?

Look around for a wrecked 1500 Vortec Max. Pull the rear axle and springs (14 bolt semi-float with 3/4 ton leafs), front torsion bars and differential (to keep axle ratios the same) if they are not. Or source the 3/4 ton rear springs, torsion bars and rear axle individually. I found most of my 14 bolt 6 lug axles on trucks with the F44 package or the Vortec Max models all have them. The G80 LSD in the 14 bolt semi-float is not as trouble prone as the 10 bolt rear axle.
Since your up north, I would also try to find an AWD Denali right axle tube. This eleminates the sliding mechanism in the right front axle (a trouble prone item in the rust belt). I run 285/75x16 tires on all my stuff (32.8" tire) with 3.73 or 4.10 gears you will have a very durable, reliable, competent truck with minimal investment. Well cared for the LS engine will outlast the truck in your neck of the woods. If you ever have knock sensor issues look at rayra's write up here about the GMT800 common repairs. He is putting together a great tutorial thread for common problems and fixes on these vehicles.

I did not trim my front bumper. I removed the plastic air dam. I noticed that also that they are different than the Chevrolet.

The wheels are 16" military take offs. They have Hutchinson part # and a GM part # and a DOT # stamped on them.
