There are allot of places to camp were you won't be bothered, campgrounds just aren't that place if too much light or too many people bothers you.

I installed some super warm amber LEDs lights on the underside for when I need to fiddle with my camera or to make sure I don't step on anything when I get out to to pee when I sleep in my car.

I have to stress that they're not rock lights or ground FX lights...they're my camp lights.

I love the hissing sound of a Coleman lantern when camping. But then again, that has been a sound I've heard camping growing up as a Boy Scout in the '70s and will never change that for a solar LED lantern.

Like changing a campfire (when permitted) for a tablet with a video of a fire. I guess depends how you grew up.
YES that’s what I’m talking about! I grew up in the 80’a and early 90’s, in boyscouts we had older green Coleman lanterns, Coleman stoves and Grumman canoes, and those are all the tings I use to this day. A Coleman lantern truly gives me a good feeling... I will never replace my old Coleman lanterns.

I just wish, in the 21st century, we as a highly advanced species (who even went to the moon with slide rulers and vacuum tubes) could figure out how to make a lantern mantle that will survive JUST ONE trip in the truck!

Every time I want to use it, I have to re tie the mantle and set it up.

Clearly, we are not ready to go to Mars.

Peerless Mantles seem to last better than the new Coleman ones do.

I use a 40 year old Coleman lantern and a rechargeable LED work light when I need more light. The LED charges in the truck or I plug it in during the day at the camp site.

Man, if I had to camp where some of you do, I'd never go anywhere. I like being alone in the middle of nowhere. We have a lot of that in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, Washington, and Oregon. I want a dark, quiet camp with just me and the stars (and my telescope).

I live in the middle of nowhere, if I want crowds I can go to City or a Campground. We have areas you can camp in that aren't campgrounds. There usually aren't a lot of people in those areas.

I agree, unfortunately its not possible in Texas. Very little public land and what there is can be very crowded. My vacations are to the middle of now where, i could move and start over again but workin cheap is not something I would like to do.
