Linear amp

hello i am new to this site and also new on the cb radio and was woundering if anyone has a working or broken amp they want to get ride of ..i will pay for shipping .i realy want to get in big with the cb stuff

FCC rules on CB radios:

CB Radio operators normally transmit double sideband AM on the first 23 channels. On channels above Channel 23, upper sideband or lower sideband equipment may be used. Four watts of carrier power is allowed for output on AM, and 12 watts of peak envelope power is the maximum power output on SSB. You may only use a type-accepted CB Radio transmitter. Any internal modification to a type-accepted CB Radio transmitter cancels the type acceptance, and use of such a transmitter voids your authority to operate the station. The same type regulation applies to power amplifiers. Power amplifiers are specifically disallowed for use with a CB Radio.

You'd be better off going the ham radio route IMHO.

Yep, linears are illegal. However, you can still get them for about $1.00 a watt. Not that i would know.

Personally I don't use CB much and don't know anybody else who does. If you're heading out wheeling with guys who use it, great, then pursue that route. If you're looking for a much larger following and professional group of people who use radios then amateur radio is the way to go. Not to mention the 1500w legal limit of ham radio :smiley_drive:

Not sure why you need an amp. Right now with the solar cycle the way it is an amp isnt going to let you talk much further than a stock radio.

Try using an amp for the 10m band, or heck, just make a linear amplifier for the 11m CB band on your own. If you have a soldering iron and a bit of time, it should be a piece of cake... maybe $5-$10 or so... maybe a bit more, depending on your componentry. Don't get caught running an amp on your CB though.

If you want to sound like you have an amp and not spend the money, just turn up the mic gain and yell real loud into the mic. You get the same effects of an amp for no money. Lots of splatter between channels and over modulated voice no one can understand. see, just like an amp. Heck add some echo, that will make the signal go further also :sombrero:

i have a corba 142 gtl it has upper and lower side bandes on it with a d104 mic and can go up to 28.000s i have a mtron 99 antenna the antenna is only 15 foot of the ground
