Um, actually, the fake beadlocks were discussed in one of the offroad mags and it was stated that real beadlocks are obviously better, but the fake ones at least strengthen the outer rim area to help against bending the bead outta shape in the rocks. They also help in keeping rocks out of the center that tear off the valve stem, so, are they really a joke??????

I'm just waiting for funds and a good price on the TRD (fake) beadlocks in bronze or black. No reason other than aesthetics from my point of view. Plus from a former owner of the Konig Countersteers informing me he replaced two of his due to breakage from off road use. This lead me to desire a better wheel.

- putting 7 50lb jerry cans on top of the vehicle along with a spare tire and a collection of action packer cases.
This reminds me of the time I was on the Rubicon Trail and a LR came up on us at the slabs. He had several cans running across the width of the roof rack. When we asked him why he was carrying so much gas he said they were empty. Never did see him again.

A HiLift does have its place, but I would start with a quality bottle jack first.

This Quality Bottle of Jack?

Wouldn't a rim with a thicker outer lip do the exact same thing without needing to pretend to be something its not? I mean do the fake bolt heads protect the rim that much? I've seen some that are not even bolts rather bolt heads on a dowel that just glues into the rim. A heavy duty rim is one thing, one with fake bead lock bolts is as lame as a stinger front bumper ;)

I shouldn't say bead locks are completely useless, they are a good litmus test for a vehicles owner and most importantly can take some legal heat off of real bead locks :p
