Living on the road vehicles (non-rv's)

Dude, you need a VAN. Nothing else will hold a queen-size bed *and* all your gear and not have you separated from the driver's cabin. Given your first priority of being able to live in it, 4WD is optional.

However, some of the newer GMC Savana's have AWD if you can actually find one.

I agree with that, but Chevy/GMC's aren't the only AWD's out there. My wife has scince before I knew her driven a Ford Areostar XL AWD. Yeah even I didn't know they made one extra long with AWD!!! Two front buckets, two bench seats that are easly removable. You coould leave the front bench in place and lose the rear one and have plenty of room to sleep in the back. BTW hers was purchased up north in Mi and are apparently more common up there.
And for those who think like I do, yes I have considered a SAS for the front using a XJ front axle because the Ford already uses coil springs in the IFS and swaping in a real 2 speed transfer case, then finding an old Wildernest topper and grafting the flip portion in place of the original roof for a pretty unique EXPO rig. Also the front and rear bumpers on the Ford bolt on and could be replaced with real bumpers and there is plenty of room under the rear floor for water tanks.

Van sounds like your best bet, and you would be surprised what you can see in a 2wd vehicle, similar to 762X39 above, i had a company focus estate (wagon) and it would get loads of places on a construction site, fire roads etc (it also wasn't "mine" but the companies, so i was a little less careful than needed!)

and I think Doug Hackney (on here) correct me if I'm wrong, built a great 4wd truck but if doing it again would just get a 2wd and go! :wings::victory:

Best of luck with the trip!
