That sorta freaked me out when I watched that. Pretty much no reason to bother locking up, well, anything. Yikes.

I like Sloan's locksmith idea as well. Heck, they can maybe re-key the thing and you can continue to use it.

I have a similar sounding receiver pin lock from "SportRack". I'd know if I saw a photo.

It took me less than 10 minutes to make and successfully bump the deadbolt lock on my front door.
Pretty scary. I am feeling a little better in that our house requires two keys using two different lock types.
That won't slow someone down much though.

Knowledge is power. Thanks for sharing some of the power. Actually in my case you might have saved someone some collateral damage. That trick may come in handy some day. I have had to force entry a few times as an emergency responder and also for a Mother who is aging to the point of locking keys in most everything.

Is the hitch pin stainless or mild steel? Any pictures of one similar?

BY FAR THE EASIEST WAY IS FREON. Take it to an auto parts store. Most will have a can of freon you can buy and a hose you can borrow. Bring your small sledge or BFH and with a single whack it is off.

Freon or maybe CO2 would do it. Get it really cold as stated above and it will shatter.

Bike thieves used this trick 20-years ago to crack the most "theft proof lock/shackle"...

Dude I did one with a 3inch cutting tool and my air compresser. took longer to hook up then to cut.

So did you get the lock unlocked ?

I'd think checking with a locksmith would be the cheapest , unless you needed to have it done asap.....then I'd use a sawzall ( or dynamite eepwall: :hehe: )

Are you sure that you have the wrong keys, is the lock maybe just frozen up?

If you think you might have the right key, and the lock is just stuck, try using Sea Spray.
