You can get one of them here secondhand with a 3.2 diesel for around 10,000 USD :victory:

Unfortunately I've no money so I don't have one

I follow Mitsubishi News daily , haven't heard about that , even outlander PHEV is delay until 2016 now. Bad news for Mitsubishi.

They basically killed the Montero in 2001, replaced it with a coolish HD rally wagon. I'm not a Gen 3 hater but it's no Montero. The sad part is that the Montero Sport was/is not at all a Montero but rather an SUV variant of the L200 pickup and now it is more Montero than the current variation of the Montero.

I woudn't be bothered if we never see another new Montero in the States, too expensive and not equipped enough for wheeling. They have become the exact opposite of what they were, the new Sport on the other hand has potential to be a game changer. Unfortunately MMNA will need to do things right in order to make it a success and they have a history of doing weird things that just destroy sales and vehicle futures.

I would say the gen 3 montero is more montero than the others (if we're splitting hairs), it dominated Dakar and that to me is what Mitsu 4wds are all about. The landcruiser (wagons) = running supply/expeditions through africa, discovery = camel trophy, jeep = rock crawling/trails, and montero = dakar/more rally based. Just look at the low range on Montero's, it has always been more suited to a more rally style than rock crawling, coupled with lower standard clearance shows me a vehicle that is well suited to full independent suspension.

Some might say they killed the montero after the gen 1. It's a matter of opinion. My gen 3 runs trails all day long. It's even pulled a land cruiser and jeep out of the mud on the same day. :)

Missing out Mitsubishi is strange. If outlander has delayed, no worries, i heard that new Mitsubishi lancer will be out soon by the end of August. May be You will like that. Yes, Mitsubishi Pajero has no comparison, but why not go with the brand. When it comes to Mitsubishi, you don't require to confirm and gather conformity. It is the best.

mackkluse you are right missing Mitsubishi is not good. ?But i would like to add that Pajero is far better than Lancer.

Most Montero owners would crap themselves on the "trails" I took my Jeep last week. But at the same time I am more comfortable in my Montero cruising at 80 on the highway and blasting down dirt roads than in my Jeep. Each was built for different needs.

Most of the Montero guys like "overland" style stuff, that's the kind of thing Montero is best at. Long moderately difficult trails, the Montero just loves going on Expeditions. Carry's heavy loads and it's comfortable on ANY terrain. Montero guys in the Southwest on the other hand tend to do the whole "overlanding" thing but sprinkled with rockcrawling.

J-N-M, You're going to like wheeling with us. I'm sure we'll get together in the not so distant future. :chowtime:
