Looking at Monteros....where to start and what to look/look out for.

And just another random thought....are there decent custom fit seat covers available for these? I'm not keen on leather to the point that it is deal killer with most vehicles. However, if good, canvas seat covers are available, this would alleviate some problems with that one aspect.

Anyone know?

So are there any actual problem areas with the Gen III Monteros to check out, or problematic systems that should be looked at a bit more closely than others before buying?

Thanks,
G

Well, I'm not looking for a Montero anymore.

Because we bought one! 2001, one owner, LTD, 100K miles with an extensive service history including timing belt and water pump recently.

Agreed. Photos or I'm calling BS!! ;)

On a different note, i was checking out Rocky Road Outfitters (linked above) website and discovered they're using this pic of my old blue 4-door gen 1 taken on the Rubicon to illustrate a Wilderness Trails Rack on a 1st gen Montero. LOL...

Oh, and the use of that pic by RRO, and the incorrect product being highlighted is typical of that company. I had some bad experiences with them back in the early Aughts when I had my previous XJ. Never again did I do business with them.
