My buddy is looking for a rack for his DII. He is a photographer and wants to make it a platform to shoot from so something full length like an SD should work.
Looking for flat or not? New or used? If flat's not an issue pickup a BajaRack, if flat would be preferred you can get a Frontrunner rack from us. There is also a Hannibal rack option that works really well.
Seems like the Hannibal would be the best choice for a totally flat rack. You'd have to put a lot of flooring in the SD rack to get it set up correctly for photography.
Yeah a Hannibal would be a great choice but I think he would like to find some thing used to save a few $$ and could make it work. I will see what his budget range is.
Larry, what rack would he order for a DII if he wanted a Frontrunner, the 1.4m?
I would look into the 'Wildyota'/'J Moose' DIY roofrack that a lot of 80 series Land Cruiser guys have done. This is the one built of an aluminum ATV ramp. Super cheap option and is flat like a Hannibal. I have considered it making one myself. When looking to price everything the gutter mounts look like they'd be the most expensive part. Whole thing comes out to less than $300
