Looking for roof top Bag Info

So Fernando got me searching in the right direction. It is a front runner transit bag. And while it looks really nice and will be really well made and probably last a while..... it is only dust proof... not water proof. Bummer... It was designed to carry their wolf boxes. So with out the boxes, it might keep you gear clean.... but not dry.

So, the search for the perfect bag continues.......

X2 - The Toyota of cargo bags! I really like the ability to chinch the bag tight and it secures to the rig very well. Its construction, while not water 'proof' is very good and I have driven thousands of miles with it in Alaska and the southern US during heavy rain and snow without a single issue. It's proven to be one of those satisfying purchases that I never have to worry about.

I run the Sherpak and am very happy with the quality and thickness of the material used....

I got a "National Geographic" branded bag at Canadian Tire or Target a few yrs ago, for about $60 bucks. Totally water and dust proof. It has been through Malaysian Monsoons and Canadian sleet.

Not sure if you can still find them though,

I had excellent results with my waterproof Rola "Playtapus" bag:

I used a bag from Lund last summer. It worked ok until I accidently poked a couple holes in the bottom. I am just going to patch them with some silver wonder tape for now. It didn't keep ALL water out but it kept our stuff dry for the most part. We were in some very wet weather on our trip. About 2.5 days of nothing but rain of all sorts.

It was cheap (@$45) so I didn't expect a lot but it worked for what I wanted.

I am just using a new cover for a 1.4x1.4 Hannibal roof tent which I was given for free, stapled to a marine ply base bolted to the roof rack. It is water proof, unzips around three sides and has sleeves for a pair of straps to hold it down tight when in use.
