looking for zip-in liner for north face shell.

I am looking for options on zip-in liners for my Mountain Light North Face shell. I have an older columbia fleece that i'm using now, but I was chilly in mid 30's-40's this weekend. I am 6ft 220lb. I would like to find either a fleece or primaloft liner that has vents. I know that north face has one but I think they are over priced for what you get. I got the shell mad cheap on year end clearance. I would like something light, packable, warm, quality, and windstopper is a plus, but not required. Any have experience with liners that will work with this jacket? thanks -Justin

If you can't find s zip in liner you might have better luck with a wind stopper soft shell under the NF shell. If you have a TJ Maxx or Marshall's near you be sure to check there. I got a Marmot shell on a great sale like you and didn't want to pay the retail for the polar fleece 200 zip in liner. I also was able to get a Columbia fleece that I had to sort of work but it wasn't great. I was looking around TJ Maxx last week and lucked into that same polar fleece 200 liner for $29-it's even the right color.

yeah but my shell is Gore-tex so I dont see an advantage of having two membranes stacked...I actually ran out and picked up one of the redpoint primaloft liners. I tried it on and instantly loved it! Its tons warmer than the Denali fleece, and layers alot better. The fleece was bunched up under my arms real bad. I also got that biotch for a huge discount. It was 40% off at a local outfitter and after just chatting w/ the clerk for a while got him to through in an additional 30% off. :wings:

I considered a Mountain Hardware windstoper fleece, but that unit was $185...forget that.

Staying warm is priceless.
I never use anything heavier than a 200 wt fleece under my Hardshell jackets, If I'm standing around I'll pull out a primaloft or down jacket to warm up with otherwise it's just too warm.

its been raining hard all day today and in the 40's to low 50's. I wore my new primaloft and shell all day while walking to campus and between classes. I was perfectly comfortable. There are some pretty nice uphills all over and I never broke a sweat (which is uncommon), but never felt a slight chill either. It actually breathes better than the Columbia fleece I have been using under it. I think I have found a winning combo for me.

If you don't mind sleeveless, my North Face Polartech vest zips right into my Mountain Light Jacket. I just wear a light fleece or similar long sleeve thermal shirt under it all.
