We are setting our JK up for flat tow as well. We are using the currie industries plate and Blue Ox tow bars.

Yeah, I've been thinking of going with a BlueOx tow bar, seems the best fit. May use this as an excuse to change the front bumper though. Looking at the Rock Hard full width bumper. It's set up (with a couple of added brackets) to have a Blue OX connect directly to it. It's ready for a future winch and, well here we go down that slippery slope. They make it in aluminum which is ~90lbs lighter. Playing around with shipping, etc it ends up being only about $100 more because there's no excess weight shipping charges, have to see...

Are you planning anything for braking?

No, Mine is being towed by a 40ft desiel pusher. plenty of brakes on that! You don't even know a rig is behind you. My setup will work perfect for us, I am mounting the winch behind the stock bumper, and the currie plate replaces the stock plastic crap air damn below the bumper. I already have the blue ox bars from another setup.
