Lost a CO2 Source in Tucson...Now where?

For you Tucson folks who use CO2 systems to air up...
I went down to Kalil Bottling to fill my PowerTank Friday. Usually it's about $4 to get 10 lbs.
Surprise! They no longer fill tanks less than 50 lbs!
So I had to drive up to United Fire Equipment on 4th Avenue to get filled. It cost $11....almost triple the cost at Kalil!

Does anyone know other good sources in Tucson?

Yep, United fire is pretty much the only place that will fill the small tanks. :(

Lots of places will exchange tanks, but I don't want to trade in my nice pretty tank for beat up POS.

Ed, here in SoCal I fill my tanks at AirGas...a welding supply chain.

Try a local Beer Store. Someplace that deals in Kegs and Home Tap setups. I've got a Beer Store right up the road that fills tanks, and they're very reasonable. $12.99/10lbs. Welding supply company here charges a base fill charge of $15, plus $1/lb. :(

United Fire is also where I go, as do most of those I wheel with,$1 a pound but they also have a couple nice brackets as well.

I'd be happy with $11 fills up here. $16-$18 seems to be the going rate from fire extinguisher places. The dry ice guys up here were OK until one of them overfilled my tank causing the relief valve to blow and cost me $50 to get recert'd and filled..I often wondered about their employees :-(

Gotta have friends in high places....

The dad of one of my wife's friends owns a fire extinguisher shop. Not only will I be able to get free tank fills.... he is setting me up with a 10lb tank, regulator and hose.... for, eh, FREE:chowtime: :wings: .

Check paintball fields & fire extinguisher shops...

Yup, $16-18 around here too. If I was to buy all over again, I'd buy a crappy CO2 bottle and do the exchange thing. Many more places around here do exchange rather than refill... probably 15 to 1.

Anybody know how to fill 10 lb cylinders from a 50 or 100lb tank? I'd like to get a larger tank at home and fill my 10 lb as needed.

Sorry this is no help Ed, but a point of reference. In Flagstaff at a fire extinguisher shop its $28.00 to fill a 20# tank...

We need an AZ group Co2 tank fill station :punk03:

Well, all things considered....looks like I'll stick with United Fire Equipment.
Probably would cost more in gas and time just looking around.
At least United isn't too far from my usual route home.
Oh, well...

Funny timing. I just got my system from Ultimate Air and was calling around Friday in the Tucson area. I called Kalil as well and they let me know the news about no longer filling tanks less than 50lbs. They even refered me to United Fire. :)

You could try a paintball store. It's kinda dependent were you live in Tucson. Paintball headquarters is on speedway near swan. There is another shop on 22nd. I'm not sure how large of a tank they will fill. I don't think that 10 lbs. is out of the question, worth calling and asking.

When I was into the paintball thing, most of the stores used a pretty small tank (like 40 or 50 lbs) to fill the small bottles. At the time, it cost over $5 to fill a 12oz tank. I doubt they would sell you 1/5 to 1/3 of their supply, definitely not at a reasonable price.

It was that cost per fill that justified me buying the parts to make my own bulk fill setup.
