Good luck in the US, and if you ever need any advice on LR, don't be shy and just ask.

Oh and did I tell you guys you would better not miss out on Brazil and the little countries in the north eastern corner of the South American continent which almost all the overlanders seem to avoid for no good reason!

Adventurous greetings,
Coen

Luis, when will you be arriving in FLA? Cindy and I are only a short drive from Apalachicola depending on where you are. We need to visit.

Ya'll could come down to Cedar Key and hang out at the tiki bar

Nice updates, since AHEM the blog updates have gotten sparse... ;) Too bad you two will be 3,000mi away when you are back in the US but if it refills the coffers then do what works. And I think I need to lobby my cable TV provider to start carrying the Peruvian news.

Thanks for the pics and details, fun stuff as always.

We may take you up on the offer, my aunt has a place on Isla Morada that we may visit... so we'll definitely stop by if we do!

Now that I am more into the photos, Lacey is taking the reins at the blog... so there may be more posting :)
BTW I have to go to San Francisco in November, so we will see you for sure! Hopefuly we can arrange an outing with OverlandNomads and Marcos...

As I think I have mentioned, Peru has turned out to be a wonderful country for overlanders. A couple of our favorite drives of the entire trip have been here... For example the drive through the Cañon del Pato (the canyon of the duck) goes from the coast to the Cordillera Blanca a small yet pretty high mountain range between the Peruvian coast and the Andes.

All dirt, very rocky, mostly single track and over 30 tunnels carved from the mountain. Pretty cool.

Some tunnels are quite short and some were quite long with no light no ventilation and single track!!! Luckily there isn't a lot of traffic through the area. But when you do bump into another vehicle, there is a standoff until someone backs off :sombrero:

When you see a lot of these along the side of the road, you know it is a relatively dangerous road

We keep driving, slowly and carefully...

My wife is Peruvian and I agree that it is an amazing country for overland travel. So many people do the fly in Inca tourist thing and I think they miss out on so much Peru has to offer.
Sorry to hear about the high fuel cost, much of our family has switched over to LPG as a fuel as it is much cheaper.

Great report and happy to see you guys are staying on the road, even with the short US bank account filler.

Thanks Lance. and agreed, it seems like most visitors head to Machu Picchu and fly back home... we are currently in a small town called Ollantaybambo, which we love and it is strictly a stepping stone to Machu. Everyone seems to miss out on this beauty.

The fuel here is not as bad as it will be when we cross into Chile :( We have noticed that all cabs are LPG or CNG.

You do realize we're not down in the Keys. Cedar Key is 45min west of Gainesville in Central Florida. We're maybe an hour or so from you

I actually thought you where closer to Tampa... oops. You are probably still a good 3 hours away, no?
What I meant is we would stop on the way to Southern Florida :) Either way we will probably stop by to mooch some drinks!

We have a bunch of family in Arequipa if you get over that way...I can get you a place to stay, work on your rig, tour the family farm & wine operation and more
Just pm me and we can make something happen

Looking forward to more updates

This is a first for us... We have camped at hotel/hostel parking lots, but a German couple told us about this 4 Start hotel on the shores of lake Titicaca that allows camping. We arrived and the hotel staff said they allow RV's not roof top tents, but they were nice enough to let us camp next to a giant MAN. Super nice and posh hotel :)
