been too hot for welding outta or in muh garage,
coupla' hours in 'da morn'n at best.
tho' I did make a little progress,
by completing the weld up of the can'(s) base/platform
things will become more clear... in the next few steps
If I can hope for a cooler day, in 'da forecast
wc's could face either way... if of mind

These days I tend not to look at the M trailer mod threads as they all tend to end up the same. NOT SO with yours! :sombrero: I love the fact you've been true to the original design but still come up with ways to "mod" it without losing the original character. On top of that there is real thought about how to do the things you've done. So on those two fronts alone, I say very very well done! :wings:

not done yet !
Was given a small set back... from a health crisis
but I'm slowly getting back on line...
sooo... a little light duty during recovery...
and then I'm planning on getting back to finish some things I started.
Finally completed my Guide A2 reflector bezel assemblies
and managed to get those mounted up.
These were installed duplicating the original mounting hardware and method
which included lead washers.
From a distance... they really don't show any different then the temporary cheapo's
But the fact that I know the trailer sports it's originality...
makes me feel better
also reinforced (W/ backing plates) inside the frame...
to better secure the tail light housing mount(s)
The frame was getting boogered up by the original bracket mount,
moving around even when the bolts were tight
Now... it don't move around at all...
and should save the frame from fatigue there.
Needed to 180* the tail light buckets
so had to mod... my already modified housing brackets to accommodate for the wiring...
That's all for now...
oh btw.... this was muh small set back

Nice job on the build. That is one hell of a road map you got there on your gut.. Glad you are ok.

You did a great job with this trailer. I just picked up a M416 two weeks ago and I've been looking at every build I can find for ideas. I have to echo the earlier comment on this being one of the most original. And that I'm probably going to "borrow" your ideas for the lid/hinge assembly. I've been going back and forth on trying to learn how to weld and I think seeing how much you were able to do whatever your mind could come up with has pushed me into getting a welder next

I read the whole build........ just one suggestion tho...... cross those safety chains when you tow, will help the tongue from "tripping" the trailer forward if your hitch fails, would keep it from dropping too far down and could help a bad situation from going all the way south, Awesome build!!!! you have some mad fab skill's!! mjmcdowell

Haven't updated this build in awhile...
because last year was mostly spent healing
and I was unable to do a whole lot.
but here are some little things I did do...
well after throwing new tires and wheels on muh truck...
I found out that it changed life for the trailer's tongue height.
so... I tried leveling the trailer to the truck with a 5 1/4" drop hitch...
and after looking at that a bit... decided I didn't like that so much.
So I decided to invert the Max C and see where that put me.
Is fairly close... but a little tongue high still
as the trailer is slightly canted to the rear...
but I think when I'm loaded up fully... things will settle a 'Lil at the tongue.
This again is probably only temporary...
as I'm thinking about upgrading the tires on the trailer to the 7.50 MT's
^ thinking those will give me the ride height needed
to better match up to the 295 Kooks I recently mounted to muh junk.
(I'm ignoring the spring over/axle swap mods at this point)
Anyway... anyone else running their Max Coupler inverted ?
I realize it leaves the Max C a little vulnerable...
But I'll weld a tail dragger off the hitch... so that will hit first...
and maybe save the Max C from certain death.

Some added weight will likely bring it closer to level.

because someone thought my safety chains were dragging too much...
I adjusted those somewhat...
crudely welded up maybe... but it should hold
if it don't... I'll cut it off and do it over
I also finally ordered/installed some red web strap to cover(sleeve) the chains
holding the fuel cans...
I think the original black web sleeves looked better,
but, oh well... I can't see it back there when I'm wheelin'
I also had to massage the stay rods holding the fuel caps secure
swelling of the fuel cans dictated that adjustment, because...
I need to tilt the cans out... and the rod was just too close.
a 5lb. sledge made it an easy adjustment
finally got around to mounting the data plates back on...
unfortunately, my current build does not allow for the original mounting locations...
so I relocated them to a custom temporary panel
Which I mounted to fit the cable box supports.
having the original data plate(s) secured to the M100... was my primary goal.
^ that ways I don't lose 'dem

Great work. I love your skills. At least I got a bro-in-law that can weld. May use some of your ideas...
Hey, what is the size of the tube that you used to fabricate the lid. I am in process of making one like AT chaser lid but worried about the strength to hold RTT and two people in it. What your guidance for me on this. Thanks.
