I am painting the M101a2 I picked up a few weeks ago. Anyone know if the bed is galvanized? This will affect my choice of paint product for best adhesion. It is a 1991 model built by Kassel Mfr.

Good advice. I have a good respirator but will go get new cartridges since have not used it in a while. Then its off to a wirebrush sandpaper then vinegar treatment before primer. Good fun all around.....haha.

I think it might be aluminum. I have an aluminum canoe and the scratches look very similar. There is bare metal exposed on mine, but zero rust. The walls, tailgate, and wheel wells have rust, but the bed has none. That's about all the help I can be on that. The steel soldiers might be able to weigh in on that one.

It's not aluminum, but they were treated with some type of rust preventor, not galv. either. I think any good primer will work. Rust. rusty metal is a good primer.
