Driving Tip -
Got to drive a deuce named "WAR PIG" over Kenosha Pass, Guanella Pass, and over Oh My God Road into Gilpin County in CO.

The truck is big but drives well. The best trick I found was to start the truck in Low Range 3rd gear, shift to high range 3rd gear and finish out the rest of the gears as needed. Saves a lot of shifting.

Way Cool!

I know that truck! Looked at a build thread on that awhile ago, think it was mostly about tires and wheels? Have been doing loads of learning on that lately.
Is it your rig or do you just know the owner?

To everyone that offers advise on the "don't put your thumbs inside the steering wheel" . . . this we are already well clear on :smiley_drive:

Should be able to "Gimp" some photos down to size soon and get this updated.
Just finished repacking a wheel bearing set, due to the "little cork wedge" having gone missing. Have also added a propane tank and plumbed it in. Framing for the inside is also progressing.

Just hang in there . . . Photos will happen!

Dude, show them the cabover rack and some of the other stuff you've posted over on SS.

Ok Mr J.Gatos, spent some time Gimping some of the photos down a bit . . . we'll see how it goes.

I'll continue this thread w/ some of the inside work.
This is hardware that I pulled off a $5 futon frame that we scored at the swapmeet. Used it and made the foot and headboards out of some birch ply. As you can see, the wood out here in the desert can be crap. After re-plying the piece back together w/ loads of wood glue, sanding this is what we ended up w/. After a few oiling I started mounting the two 15 gal water tanks underneath w/ a shureflow pump between them.

I'll pause here to see how these "down sized" photos look . . .

That seemed to go ok.

I then started on the kitchen counter . . . It'll be made from a single slab of pine. Got it from a friend up by Idyllwild . . . he's the wood-man.

After being shaped and planning the lay-out,

With the stove inset,

Deciding that I wanted the sink under-counter, I cut out sink space with the jig-saw blade at a 45. I can now reset the piece when the sink is not being used and we want more counter space.

This is after the first round of sanding,

Also did a bit of work on the outside, first it needed a step up to get on the bumper and a lifting handle for the hood (no reason to get her fingers crushed while trying to check the fluids . . . she is a jewelry artist)

P6260026.JPG

Next we needed to make some space for the propane tank, took out the tool rack, removed the mudflap, and dropped the spare tire mount,

P7020032.JPG

Time to paint up the tank and get it stuffed in place. The spare mount will go back in place w/ only a 1/8" spacer on the top mounting bolts and it clears the tank.

I am not the owner of "WAR PIG" just and operator who was able to spend 6 hours driving it from one owner to the next owner.

Wood Slab

Very nice use of a free edge pine slab...very cool. Looks like you know what you're doing but if you need some ideas on finishing the slab for beauty & durability I've got a few.Peter

I'm always open to input.

My plan has been to use a "butcherblock" type of oil, . . . or something that the the "Tree Whisperer" has worked up over the years, haven't talked w/ him about it yet.
The floor just has Tung Oil on it . . . sanding and oiling . . . sanding & oiling . . . sandin', oilin . . .
Guess I like that kind of stuff :sombrero:

This is an excellent thread! And yes I too think she is Hot! Any woman who grabs a wrench and gets her fingernails greasy is just plain Hot! Not to mention Cool! Love your guys work. I also love the single wheel mod. Simple and effective will big results. Has your fuel mileage gone up as well? You said it handles better as well. Can you also share some details about your alternative trailer fueling station? Thats one of the best ideas ive heard in a long time. Keep up the great work! :victory:
