M2 Freightliner Ambulance Conversion Project. 2007 Crew Cab

So I broke the dipstick tube pulling the oil pan off. Just a plastic tube less than 2’ long. So I figured I would just buy a new one. Called the Freightliner stealership to see if they have one in stock. Nope it will be ten days and that will be $128 plus tax.

So I made my own. 1/2 PEX and a heat guy. 45 minutes including work calls and refitting.

Well some progress over the weekend. Front axle is all finished except for fitting the drag link. That took 1 1/2 big days.

And Ryan nextdoor came over and welded the panhard rod mount on the rear axle. Beautiful job! Now I just need to fill it with oil (about 5-6 gallons), mount it up, set the ride height, align it laterally, drill the mounting plate (3/4” holes), fit the panhard rod.

Doesn’t sound like much but all 16 ubolt nuts need to be torqued to 480 ft lb. 20 wheel lugs to 450 ft lb etc.

My back cringes at the thought of this..

I am not sure if I was under the influence when I typed that or if autocorrect took over, at least you got what I meant.
