just do a search...theres alot of options but most go with a 2500 pound axle i believe. I serviced my m416 axle and kept it...it all depends on the gear your carrying and the beating you will give it.

I bought from Randy @ ABC, and he was very helpful. And to clarify, most people go with a 3500-lb. axle to get the bigger hubs/bearings.

Yup. I got a 3500lb from ABC as well with matching bolt pattern to my Jeep. I went with what I think is a 62" axle, and probably could've gone a little narrower but it would've taken a bit longer and I needed to get the trailer running pretty quick.

Follow-up note...

What wheels will you be running on the trailer? My Jeep Ravine wheels will not clear the 3500-lb. hubs, so I had to order 2" (per side) wheel spacers. The wheel decision may obviously affect the overall width you'll need, and may require spacers.

Some Jeep wheels will work without spacers - it'll vary by wheel model.

Just about any factory steel wheel will fit the 3500 hubs in my experience, same with aftermarket steel wheels.

I can't comment on the alloy wheels.

Thanks for all the info, I may not need a new axle at this time.....I got the end bearing out, now I need to work on the inner bearing.

But I have another questions......why did you get a new axle, is there something I should know about the original M416 axle. I am running the original (I think) steel wheels.

Thanks

Ok, I got both bearing off, and got the knew ones (they are stamped worth the same number as the old ones) but they seen to small to clear the threads. Any suggestions?

I had to cut the old ones off, as they locked up..........could the spindled have swollen?
