M416 Build in Maryland

Mark - Was thinking reversible with my design, but like the clean look of the one you show. Do you think that the rear cross member could be cut and all the welding done with the tub still on the trailer? The only other thing to contend with on the 416 is the center tub tab that connects to the frame right in the middle of the rear cross member..could have one on either side added in replace of that one..

Again, wish I could weld...

My buddy is in the middle of putting mine in without removing the tub, that style needs to be tied into the middle crossmember though, as the rear crossmember is not strong enough by itself.

Mine mocked into place..

Hitch Complete

I went with the Harbor Freight hitch and two lengths of 2" angle iron. Easiest option for a non welder. A couple 1/2 grade 8 bolts later, and I have a solid 2" receiver for spare tire mount or bike rack.

Works well! Everything sandwiched and clamped tight to the cross members.
Grade 8 bolts to lock it all together. Great work!

Nice work on the rear hitch set up...perfect for mounting bikes.

Having a Jeep AND a little trailer just work out so well....made for each other!

Spare Tire

Curt Spare Tire Carrier arrive today. Mounted the tire with 3 - 1/2" x 1 3/4 (20 thread) grade 8 bolts. Perfectly suited for this trailer. Though the spare is one of the original tires, it should do ok for now. I have an extra tube in the trailer.

The tongue was heavy with the loaded box up front. The tire seemed to lighten it up again. Is there a rule of thumb as to how this should work. It seems somewhat balanced. Then again, my cooler sits toward the rear and it isn't loaded yet. That might make it tongue light...

Trip to a friends property north of Harrisburg, Pa.

Towed 3 hours each way. Pulled without issue!

Small Generator

Couldn't refuse. Before you knock it, it was on sale for $99 (Harbor Freight) with a 2 year store warranty for full replacement if quits for any reason. 800w/900 peak. 5 hours on 1/2 load. Looked like it had many solid reviews on line. Figured it might add a little extra for lights and other small devices. Plug in a power strip for a few extra plugs. Now I need to decide how to fit it in the puzzle of trailer supplies.

I have heard good and bad on the little HF generators.
I like the size and style.
I would test it out for several hours before a serious trip and run only high test and brand name oil mix.
Post your results.

Probably run it for a few hours this weekend when I kick on my deck lighting. I've read that a spark plug upgrade "E3" will make for better starts and smoother running.

Every once and a while it's fun to fish with a few night crawlers and good old bobber!
