M416 parts?

I got a line on a decent M416. But it doesn't have a tailgate. Any ideas where I can find one?

They aren't supposed to have one....

Most of the M416's you see with tail gates have old Jeep CJ gates added. I wouldn't let that stop you from buying it.

I used aluminum diamond plate for my M416 tailgate, gives a better look I feel

Not sure what size/shape the "tailgate opening" is in the M416 you're looking at, but starting at the post in this link are some plans and step-by-step instructions for building a tailgate, maybe this will give you some ideas: http://tventuring.com/trailerforum/thread-119-post-3824.html#pid3824. It's designed to be a fairly simple DIY project, just a little welding required, no complicated bending, everything is made from stock shapes...

So the one I'm buying now is a solid tub with 4 sides. So I'll probably follow the mod instructions from TVenturing.

Interestingly several other M416 trailers I found had no "back side". Maybe they were cut out???

All m416 trailers originally had 4 welded sides, many had the backs removed or converted into a tailgate after life in the military (and a few were removed in the military).
