Sweet Triumph, too!

That's my biggest gripe with my garage...Roof is too low. Ah, well, it just means bigger muscles from lifting the tent on and off at each project junction!

We grew up cutting our teeth on the British makes, that is why I secretly long for a Rover 110 haha! All in due time.

Dual Battery Kit

I made some more progress this weekend, after finishing up some customer vehicles over this past week. The dual battery tray I fabbed up was painted using wrinkle paint, and it came out amazing, as well as the air-box mounting brackets. The tray is made of 10 gauge sheet steel, and it has zero flex, with six mounting points it easily supports the 100+ lbs of battery weight. I wanted to stack the batteries front to back instead of side-by-side because I plan on doing a Hemi swap at a later date. The side-by-side versions do not allow the room necessary for the Hemi, so I did not want to have to redo the battery tray at the time of the swap. Also with the stock airbox in its normal location I can utilize an AEV Snorkel kit, which is also coming soon. Here are a few shots:

I was able to use the stock fuse box without an issue:

Here is the National Luna Intelligent Solenoid, the brains behind the dual battery system, which I mounted to the battery hold-down strap I fabbricated:

This dual battery setup also utilizes a National Luna dual battery controller, which monitors the batteries charge levels, and has a built-in momentary switch, allowing me to connect the batteries for hard starting situations.

And here is the final system wired up, note the sPOD unit is wired to the Auxilary Battery:

There is a lot going on in this photo, due in part to the multitude of factory harness plugs and wires, which I may work on lengthening and cleaning up at a later date, but this is good for now, and I have other work to prepare the JK for our trip out west at the end of the week.

Needless to say, we were eager to install a set of four on our JK for our trip out west. We installed the Maxtrax Rear Wheel Harness kit, which allows up to carry up to 5 Maxtrax units of 4 very dirty ones stacked on top of each other.

Goal Zero Solar Panels

Along with the offroad parts we carry, we also carry a number of camping related brands, including Nemo Equipment, and Goal Zero solar solutions. Not long ago we posted that we had gotten some Goal Zero Gear in, and we finished installing it on our Jeep JK last night again in preparation for our trip west. We wanted to have equipment to power our computers, phones, camera equipment and other gizmos while we were in the backcountry without putting too much stress on our vehicle batteries, which will already be powering on-board fridges and other accessories throughout the trip. Solar was the best solution, and Goal Zero had just the products we were looking for.

With the open Gobi Roof Rack space in front of our Eezi-Awn Rooftop tent, we were able to mount 2 Goal Zero Boulder 30 Solar panels which are linked together and will recharge our Goal Zero Extreme 350 portable solar power storage unit.

We used all stainless steel hardware, and 1" angle aluminum to mount the panels. Here are a few shots of the solar panels mounted to the rack.

The Jeep will be in Utah with us until we get back Labor Day Weekend. We have someone covering the shop for us, but you might want to stop by once we are back. We will be having an open house on 9/8/12 if your around, you should stop by with your H1.

My wife and I are very interested in building our 2012 JKU Sport in a similar way. We are just down the road in MD and would love to swing by and check out the RTT and your build sometime in Sept when you are back.

Hey, sounds good, we will be back Labor Day weekend. Just give us a heads up before you would like to come visit. We are also planning an open house event Sept. 8th.
