MapSource Help?

I picked up the Garmin MapSource Topo maps and it isnt going well. I know what waypoints and routes are, but this thing cant seem to route anything. how do you get i tto route you on a road, all I get is straight lines that dont snap to anything.

I'm not using MapSource Topo, but under the regular MapSource you can check the preferences under the edit menu. Make sure the routing preference is set to "use auto routing" and not "use direct routes"

Hmmm, thanks for the advice but I don't have that feature under that menu. That function is what I am looking for though.

I now see that Topo doesn't Auto Route, so that is a PITA.

I think MapSource Topo Canada is the only one of the Topo series that has routables roads.

At least I bought it at REI so I can return it.

Garmin has topo maps sets in two resolutions: 1:100k and 1:24k (IIRC). The 24k ones do routing and the 100k set does not. The 24k sets are only available for limited areas.

Yea, the 24K maps are just mostly National Parks.

He's talking about the new 24k maps, they have just started releasing them and have just a handful of western states done.
