Maxtrax vs TRED vs Tracmats vs X-Trax vs X-Jack

I bought 2 pairs of TREDs for $180. At that price, I don't care if they break. I've only had to use them once and they worked as advertised.

Also, to be completely honest, I've been a little bit turned off by the "attitude" that maxtrax has displayed when posting here. It's possible to talk about why you think your product is the best without a) trashing your competitor's product and b) coming off like a **************. Just my opinion.

TREDS fit perfectly on my ARB rack length wise. With a winch, Bogert Jack system and a Pull-Pal they are my last line of defense.

That is the reason i will never buy anything from them. Juvenile posting by a business will not gain my business.

I would really love to see OJ (or someone) provide an updated and comprehensive test of the options. I know MaxTrax are good, but there are quite a few less spendy options these days that may be a better value for those that don't need to use them frequently.

I didn't find the comments juvenile at all. More just stating what he thinks are the facts. Plus I actually agree with the last few posts. I personally don't want to spend a ton of money on recovery gear. Due to the fact I rarely use it, but when that time comes and I really really need the gear to work. That's when I am so happy I spent the extra dollars on gear that won't break and leave me stranded. I've been in situations where it cost me over $500 to get out of a situation all because I wanted to save a few dollars on recovery gear. I'd rather pay it for a good quality product then an expensive tow out of a sticky situation. It never fails too, usually when things go wrong I'm in a time crunch and can't afford to leave the vehicle over night and wait on friends to come get me.

By the way I'm not saying you have to buy maxtraxx or any other brand just that you have to look at your own use scenario and see if it's worth it for you to pay the extra money. You may never go too far to warrant the extra price or you may always wheel with friends that have plenty of other recovery gear. For me though the maxtraxx gives me a piece of mind.

It seems the product is worth the money and had MaxTrax been more professional in its presence here i can see spending the money, however the posts and attitude displayed makes me not want to support their company at all.

i completely agree with spending money where it is effective and you get a good product rather than a marginal one. I do tons of research before buying anything and try to get the most effective bang for my buck, but no matter how effective, they will not get my bucks.

I completely understand. I hadn't realized they have made posts in other areas of the forum. I do the same thing when it comes to customer service and satisfaction. If a company irritates me or doesn't the crew of me. Spending on how severe it is I may not not ever buy from them again even if their product is superior. There's a lot to be said about good customer service. I have bought products from companies that have treated me great even though I could have bought a better product from someone else. So I get it.

I'm sorry we've offended you. I guess we'd rather people know that we're real people with real emotion. If I can be of any help in your decision, feel free to send me an email: matt@maxtrax.com.au

Maybe I missed the"comments" but I have to say I have had both treds and maxtrax, The maxtrax is just a better product and the last thing I am going to do is punish myself and buy a lesser product because of some forum posting

I agree. Maybe I also missed the "offensive" comments but from the ones here I didn't see any posts that were not useful information. Recovery gear is not gear you want to have fail when you need it. I've seen several failures of other brand of traction boards, but not one that I can recall with the Maxtrax. After several experiences having the Maxtrax be a critical part to us "getting out" I'm convinced they are the best option currently available. The only exception to that comment would be that there are possibly better options specifically for bridging that are more rigid. Stacking the Maxtrax increases the bridging capabilities. In all other "traction" situations they are excellent. Seems completely self-defeating to choose a lesser product purely on "principle" to put myself in a situation where a lesser product could fail or not work effectively. When I'm stuck, I wanna get unstuck. I don't care at that point what anyone has posted to a forum.

a winch was also used in this recovery but the Maxtrax made the recovery dramatically easier.

I've been posting in and following this thread for over two years. The Maxtrax vendor looks to have only joined Expo in September of this year. I looked back at their posts here and elsewhere in the forum and cannot see why people have their knickers in a knot. If Maxtrax had self-deleted some scary obnoxious posts I would have expected to see some quotes of what Maxtrax said in other people's responses but for the life of me I don't see anything to get excited over.

I saw this post from Maxtrax and it looks both polite, professional and generous to boot.
Unfortunately we have to warranty for the bulk of our users who are recreational 4WDs.

How about I offer you a personal, one-time-only warranty against cracking or breakage for the weight of your truck? We've tested them with military 6X6s, Humvees, semis and fully-loaded expedition campers with no issue, I wouldn't expect to have any issues with your vehicle.

If you look at my previous posts you'll see I don't use Maxtrax so I am just wondering about all of the discontent polluting this good thread..
