Any idea why some lift kits (PRG, for example) require a new set of control arms to achieve the same lift?

ICON and Radflo have two version to their coilovers (I don't know about king). The version design to used with an after-market control arm you can gain about an inch or so more of travel. The version design to work with a stock upper control arm has internal stop to prevent coilbucket contact.
If you purchased a standard coilovers and later decide to get UCA's you can have the stop removed. That way you don't have to dish out the cash for UCA's right away.

Very nice Mike!
What are your thoughts about the off road handling characteristics of the ICON's. I am looking at going the coilover route in the very near future, but I don't know if the expense is worth it or not. I was eyeballing PRG's kit that they offer with 2" Radflo's, UCA's, and Deavers, and I think it's close to $1,500. I'm very tempted to get it. But then again, there's the ICON's:ylsmoke:

I couldn't be happier with the ICON's. My pervious set up was stiff for the first couple of week. With these coilovers there is no brake in period.
I look at the 2.0 Radflo's to save some money but after thinking how heavy my truck and loads I carry, a 2.5 coilover seems the right choice for me. Plus the fact I was able to get the 2.5's from prerunnerparts for almost the same price as the 2.0's...I couldn't pass on that deal.

The nice thing about PRG Advanced Coilover Package is that every comes together in a kit but I have notice is that the Deavers only get 2" of lift so most people add the adjustable shackles to get 3" of lift. This is why I went with AC's 3 leaf add-a-leaf pack. Not only does it come with 3 leafs instead of 2 but they also lifts the rear 3".

Back up camera

I have been thinking about adding a camera for years to my truck and finally got one. What took me so long is finding one I like. The DVD replacement head units is nice but I really don't listen to radio a lot so I couldn't justify the cost. Plus I didn't want to look down. I did not want the monitor build in to the rear view mirror because I wanted to be able to use the whole mirror and a good size monitor. Most remote monitor's are only 3.5" which seems a little small to me.

So here is what I am working on.

I remove my sunglasses holder door in the map light assembly and installed a 7" monitor. The size seem perfect. Lager enough to see what maybe behind me at a glance and I am able to view the screen and the mirror at the same time.
I did have to trim some of the plastic on the sides and cut out the latch for the monitor to fit.
The unit comes with a cigerate lighter adaptor so next I will work out the power supply to the back up camera monitor.

Finish the wiring to the back up camera monitor.
The monitor now turns on with the key on and the camera comes on when I put the vehicle in reverse. I still need to add a switch so I can turn the camera on when every I want it on.

That's pretty smart there Mike! I like it, very clean and subtle.

Where did you mount the camera? Seems to have a wide range of vision.

Nice build! Slow and steady progress, as your needs evolve. This is how every build should be. Thanks for sharing.

Great looking build. Any updates on the snorkel? Also what did you do with your old front lift? I am interested.
