LOL....I've seen that ALOT in the rear view mirror...she always fell asleep just as we got to the really tough parts...slept thru them all!!

she's tall like my oldest....I laughed when she would put a shirt on..and her entire belly is uncovered...but one thats long enough is so big she's swimmin in it!!

I have a 3 month old and I have always wondered how old he has to be to go on some moderate trails with me. He loves the truck even now (they all do don't they?) and I want to get him used to the outdoors etc. at an early age.

DO I wait until he is 4-5 or earlier?

Don't wait! My daughter got started at about 3-4 months. Had her camping 4 times her 1st year. She is 16 months now and has been on more trips this year than most people do in 10 years. She is so accustomed to it now that she loves going. The bouncier the road the better. She will be a seasoned veteran by the time she is 4-5.

haha great video! My boy will be 4 in May and I have been taking him out for a year now. Nothing extreme obviously. He is out of the car seat and in a booster seat now (he got too big!) and its more of a pain as the regular car seatbelts don't keep him upright when sleeping so I have to hold his head! Although he doesn't nap a whole lot anymore.

Bless all you Dads for getting your kids out there! The day they ask to drive your rig off road is something to look forward to. :sombrero:

I think my boy was 2 when I took him, and it was no problem at all. We have a baby girl now, and I'm unsure. I wouldn't be comfortable with her back there, in a rearfacing seat, unless mom could be back there to make sure she's ok and maybe hold her head.

a good rule of thumb is this...

if they can walk UNASSISTED across uneven ground...

when our daughter could follow me across the yard without falling down we started taking her wheelin...that way we didnt have to carry her the entire time when we got out..

she loves it...and is the WORST person to have along...30 guys daring me to try an obstical I can ignore...those baby blue eyes saying "hit it dad!!" will get ya EVERY TIME!!:smiley_drive:

Very cool. My daughter & son go with me often. I'm hoping to take one of them on our first solo trip this summer. let the adventures begin :wings:

Were those real 100's :Wow1:

3-4 months! wow. Sammy has a strong neck for his age (3.5 months) but I don't think I'd want him bouncing around over rocks. Don't read this as me being critical of you. Just a nervous first-time dad.

I'm thinking that when he is able to walk and is in a rear facing seat then I might be comfortable. His mom on the other hand....

I am no expert on this stuff, but I would say that we were on easy roads, just not roads you could take a car with a good driver on, by the time my boy was 3-4 months old, but we did not wait more than about 6 months until we started going whereever we wanted to go. Now mine also loves it. He is always asking if we can "go in daddie's jeep." He loves the thing.

Sadly, not into camping. We tried to take him camping a while back and he wigged out, a lot, ended up having to keep him in the jeep for a few hours and he did not fall asleep until after midnight, after I had packed up the entire camp in the dark, and went on the hardest trail I have ever had to travel in the dark. Through the river and two switch backs and he was gone. Figures... oh well, still fun. We hope to get him camping this summer.

I loved the video, that seems like a really great idea! Lots of fun if the kid is going to nap on the way there!

By the way, glad your eighthundred bucks did not wash down the river.

Mind if I ask what yall plan for the money? IE does she get to keep it, or save it for college, or something like that?

My daughter was nine when she first asked. I let her drive it around camp in first gear, low range. She's 12 now; I haven't tried starting in high range yet, but she can use the clutch, and get to fourth gear in low range.

Both of my girls started camping and wheeling before they were two.
