Memory foam mattress for futon?

It's not actually for an expo rig, but more my guest room, I've got an 8 inch thick memory foam mattress that's going to be going into my guest room that I was hoping to build a futon for assuming any one could lend some advice to modify it for a futon?

A little off topic of post but we are a community meant to help each other right? Now on to your question.
I sleep on a memory foam 8" mattress, there is no real way it is going to do futon duties. It simply doesn't have the flex a regular futon mattress does. You could cut it in half to get the proper shape for when it's in couch mode and then lay the two pieces flat for bed mode. Of course that would then involve new covers for each side and after project is all said and done buying a futon would just be a better bet ;)

thats all I'd come up with too sadly, I realize how off topic it is- but I'd planned on adapting one of the many van futon frames I've seen around here and with the shear number of them I figured if anyone had tips tricks or experiences it'd be the people who've built something similar already
