Mercedes 407D Full Timer Build

Pretty constructive day yesterday, finally got around to building my kitchen carcasses. I've made them out of easyfix aluminium tubing and nylon connectors and I'm really pleased with the results. Very sturdy and the complete build including the euro crate drawers weighs around 10KG. So my low weight build is on track so far.
Here's how it comes;
A box of connectors and, in this case white painted alloy tube, 25mm x 25mm.

Measure it,cut it up, and start boshing it together and pretty quickly you get some kind of structure. Pretty satisfying!

And here's what im using for drawers. Eurocrate boxes. Lightweight, strong and easy to keep clean. These are just going on runners and when in transit I'll have them strapped in safe and sound.

Just mocking up how the oven will fit;

What is it they say, measure once, cut twice? Yea, this whole thing needed breaking apart and doing again!

But after a few choice words it all came together nicely;

Clearly its a work in progress. Need to sort out my worktops and a sink etc but I'm really pleased with it. I took a gamble trying the aluminium tubing but I'm glad I did. Onto the floor and wall lining this week!

love that van - and it's color. i'm from germany. back then, you could see these vans a lot. used by the police as personnel carrier aka "Mannschaftswagen", the fire departments and just as yours as an ambulance. solid. enjoy.

Thanks John, I very nearly bought a fire engine! Still had the engine driven pump and all the hoses in the back but unfortunately it had a much higher floor than this so the ceiling height was too low. Shame because they look great.
