Mexico Weekend: Jan 2010

I decided to spend my first trip to Mexico with these hooligans... It paid off.

It was a great trip, albeit nerve-racking crossing over into Mexico in a Jeep with cardiac arrest symptoms. A minor setback, but nothing to keep us from beach inebriation. A lot of what I would say would be mere re-telling of the tale Wil has already told, so for now, I'll let the pictures do some talking while I wait for F'n's heavy artillery.

You could say that the reason we went was because Bobby said, "Hey! Let's go to Mexico!"

Or because we like the beach.

Or because we aspired to be unoriginal and cynical and ride on the shoulders of George Mallory and exclaim, "Because it's there!"

The truth is different. Far different. We were overdue on our annual midnight flashlight art photo performance:

I'll squeeze in some more pictures in a bit, but if you just can't wait you can see the whole dang gallery right here.

Rocky Point is a great place. I use to ditch my daughters out of school every Oct. with a "Family Emergency" I had the letter in my computer & just changed the date on it for 4 yrs in a row. They would come back to school with a sun burn, corn row braids with sand in their hair. My girls & the other kids would have to do at least 1hr of school work every morning before we went out exploring. Funny to see a bunch of kids doing school work at a table in the camp ground with the ocean in the back ground.
The fish market is a great way to spend a day, we've eaten at the same restaurant many times watching the dolphins & looking for whales.
Living here on the border we have become worried about the violence across the border & haven't gone to Purto Penasco in about 3yrs, its a shame too its a solid 8hr drive from my driveway to the water.
We have camped & rented huge beautiful homes there & we have all decided the camping was a better experience then having a home with refrigerated air, satellite TV & internet connections. We didn't get out as much as when we camped.
Thanks for the pictures, makes me want to start planning another Oct trip.
