Might have to move...What'll happen to my expo dreams?

I may have a job opportunity that would mean moving from Colorado….to the Philly metro area.

I grew up there, and would have a good network of old friends and family. And the job opportunity might be financially motivating….

BUT…

Where would my 100 series be able to give us a sense of adventure in that region?

Is there an east coast Slee or Cruiser outfitters that I could trust?

Would my wanderlust erode any and all opportunity there and mean we'd be moving back the mountain west in a few months? lol

Thanks guys, any opinions/experience here would help as we make this decision...

Being born and raise in the West, it is hard for me to be very objective, but I would think your expo/wanderlust would have to be altered to take on a new emphasis. Although, at the end of the day, you are the only person on the planet who can find the answer to your question ... which lies deep within your soul. Unfortunately, being mortal, we cannot see the beginning from the end. I wish you well in your pondering. Follow your heart.

Don't give up a good life for a good job. There isn't enough money out there to buy quality of life. Just my .02.

I'm 11 years into a 20+ year career and am county the days until I can move north again.

Adventure is what you make it.

Thanks guys.

See that's why I love this forum. Insightful, elegantly written honesty from intelligent people.

I agree that adventure is what you make it. Wholeheartedly.

But the culture difference between the east and mountain west instills worry. Back east the first thing people ask you is where you work, or what you do for a living...out here in Colorado I've always valued how people are more interested in one another's hobbies and passions than their careers.

Although I've always felt philly has the most polite people around...seriously. Lots to consider.

AMEN! I left a 6 figure job to go back to doing what I love, where I love. I guide hunts here in CO and in Mexico and I don't make but 1/3 of what I used to make but I am 100% happier

I agree with huntsonora, you can't put a price on the quality of your life or your sanity.

There are some beautiful spots in the Pennsylvania hills but they don't compare to Colorado.

I'm a bit biased as well as I took a pay cut to relocate from Michigan to Colorado, but I can't ever remember being as happy as I am today. The pay cut was worth it.

And I'm the opposite boat, possibly moving from nj to colorado for a pay cut but more opp to enjoy what we enjoy

But to your original question. There's stuff to see and places to visit, it will just require more pavement time 5hours to get there won't be uncommon. and it will be substantially less vast. Instead of day trips you'll need to plan more long weekends to make it worth the pavement time.

This.

I'm a westerner and moved to the southeast for a 110% increase in pay. It lasted about 4 years before I couldn't take the lack of public lands any longer. I wouldn't do it again for a 500% increase in pay. Life is too short. But sounds like you have family there and that is something different altogether.

I met a guy on the plane the other day that commutes weekly from Denver to Albany. Yikes. But I would do that before I would leave the west again.
