Military trailer build

As I was getting my trailer ready for my trip when I realized I forgot to mount my Hi Lift jack. I used three grade 5 1/2"x 4" bolts with 9 nylocks, 3 washers and 3 rubber washers. Since my truck is a Chevy you know I will always pack a tool kit so removal of the jack will be simple enough. I also lengthend the tail gate chains so my tailgate will lay flat. This will provide me with a nice flat area to cook on and work on if needed.

You may not be the only one using a Comm box and military trailer. I saw a car trailer hauling what looked to be a Comm box on the front and it had a military trailer on the back of it. The trailer looked more like one of the M416? The box almost looked smaller and might have been fiberglass? Both were forest camo green and definately military surplus from the look of them.
Maybe they are using you ideas?
Headed east bound I-184 through Ontario , Oregon this morning.

Shortly after these pictures I noticed one of my bearings was getting HOT! So I had both sides replaced. Both inner and outer sets. Since I cant stop I will have to run back and pick up my trailer. BUT the back of my truck with that Caravan Camper shell sure is nice! I should have repacked my bearings before I left but completely spaced it!

Remind me to get you mudguards for Christmas to keep that truck pretty..:)

What is the plan for the interior mods? After seeing it mounted I'd almost be tempted to build a solid type awning that lifts up on gas struts to protect the rear from the elements during camping. Nice project, safe traveling.

I think that trailer would look better behind my truck than yours.:sombrero:

When I put my Hi-Lift on the hood of my Jeep I used nuts the same size as my lugs so I could remove them with my lug wrench. Not locked, but it should slow someone down. It's been there for almost three years with no problem.

The interior mods will include a Swedish model....I mean A Swedish memory foam mattress. Drawers under the bed to store all my clothes. I want to also install one of the new LED ultra flat screen TVs. This will be wall mounted at the foot of my bed but up at just above eye level. My Lap Top will also beable to plug into the the tv so I have a super size screen. The small kitchen area will have a sink, microwave and 2 burner stove. Next to that will be my pantry cabinet. The other wall will house my Engle freeze fridge and my printer with supplies. Interior lights will be white and red LEDs. I will beable to run the red lights if I need to keep my night vision. I have not decided what type of material I will use to finish off the cabinets in

I was screwing around with the idea of using 2 solar panels as my rear awning. But Im not coming up with any good plans. I may just stay with one of my two original ideas. Hard mount them flat on the roof. This will give me ok solar power and would help keep the roof cooler. Or just mount them on one side and beable to angle them for maximum solar power draw. BUT this would also lend them to potential theft or damage.

After several weeks of living in my camper I have come to the conclusion I need a self contained unit. This is the best weekend or even week long camper but I get so dirty working that I really need an inside shower unit. I will be buying a small 16' to 18' Travel Trailer that I can keep within driving distance of our site as I work on them. So my Military trailer camper combo are up for sale. I just had all new inner and outer bearings replaced as well as the races. I am asking 4K for the set up. PM me if interested. The Comm shelter cost 54K new and she is in excellent condition!
