Military/Wedco style fuel cans at Major Surplus & Survival

Those look a lot like the ones being sold by Cheaper than dirt (http://www.cheaperthandirt.com) The CTD web site has a spot for reviews and the reviews on the CTD cans are not good. Apparently they're not genuine NATO cans, they're NATO style cans but much more cheaply made (I notice that the description here is the same: Not Military SPEC but Military Style.)

Caveat Emptor applies here (let the buyer beware.)

Check out the CTD listing - certainly looks like the same cans. Also check out the customer reviews:

Here's the 1 gallon from CTD. No reviews posted but, again, it looks a lot like the Major Surplus cans:

CTD does offer the "real deal" for $50/ea.

Notice the much more positive reviews.

I am shopping for "real" gas cans now, too, and this was an eye opener for me.

I wondered about those "style" cans when I first saw them. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that they're crap.

It is a damned and silly shame that .gov got into the business of meddling with gas cans. Luckily I bought a bunch of surplus NATO and Scepter cans, and a stash of new red Wedco cans, right before the ban. Still have a bunch of the Wedco ones sitting new, unused, in the basement...:)

This is the POS style of jerry described in OJ(spring 2010) about how the US F'd up making them with rolled seems, Junk. I was at a surplus store outside Fort Bragg today and they had welded seem jerry's for $25 and plastic ones for water and fuel $35-$55 but none of them have the cam-lock style lids, just screw on(Plastic) and screw in(steel) and no spouts.
