MIssion Overland Trailer Owners page

Btw, there is no such thing as a stupid question. Everyone of us had to start somewhere. That is what this group is for. So keep asking questions.

Thanks for that. The wording of the previous posts had me wondering if it had brakes at all.

I'm in the wrap design phase. What cool way to get a trailer. The process is extra special and we are very excited. Now, I just have to learn how to tow and educate myself on electrical and solar. I'm way out of my element in both departments.

Baby steps. Take it easy, have fun. Everybody makes mistakes, it is part of the process. Hoping this group keeps those mistakes to a minimum. Just get out and enjoy the world. That’s what it is all about anyway.

Hello all, this is my first post on Expedition Portal. Thank you to all the owners posting in this forum.

I was hours away from signing off on an Off Grid Pando but, feel incredibly fortunate to have stumbled onto Mission Overland. I just signed the paperwork for a MO Summit build, due for delivery in late Spring.

A little about myself:
- Family of 3 with a 9 year old boy
- Avid outdoor enthusiasts (dirt biking , hiking, climbing, skiing)
- We've never owned a trailer before. We have always been tent campers both in the backcountry and at organized campsites.
- We are native Albertans which is the only reason I was able to get into a Summit this year.

Some of the things I am looking into are:
- a windscreen/stove cover for the Dometic cooktop. I've been told the one from Dometic is flimsy?
- folding wooden mat for the shower enclosure
- options for decorative awning/patio lights?
- options to insulate interior tent walls if needed?
- cargo netting for the front rack which I plan to use exclusively for firewood
- toilets
We are excited to join you all. Tips and recommendations are welcomed.

Cheers!
Congrats on your purchase! We picked up ours May 2020 and LOVE it. As for wooden mat, I found one on Amazon. Only folds in half but that will be fine. I haven't bought mine yet but plan to for this year. The lights I bought on amazon also. They are LED and run on battery. 3aaa lasted all last year and we were out every other weekend. There are tons available. We use the luggable loo for a toilet and I line first with regular kitchen trash bag then a compostable one. I use rabbit bedding (cedar or pine shavings) and found no odor after a weekend with adding a little more each use. As long as the bag doesn't break I can bury with only the compostable one if allowed.

We have not used the trailer in the middle of winter at this point but have been down to around 35 F and the heater keeps you toasty. I actually crack a window at our heads and leave the window coverings on the canvas cracked also.

Good Luck and post what you do to it. Always looking for other ways to personalize mine

Thank you for the fantastic updates Daisy.

- I hadn't thought about just buying separate battery powered LED's. It's a good idea. Originally, I was planning on rigging some patio lights up to an integrated switch but, your idea sounds easier.
- On your cold outings, has the 10lb propane been sufficient?
- What sort of leveling blocks are in your picture?
- My deposit makes ownership official but, have you had any problems with dust infiltration or water leaks? If so, any tips? We do a lot of travel on dry gravel.

I think these custom trailer companies can be a dice roll but, I'm super happy that you've enjoyed the trailer for almost a full year. Thanks again.

For the lights I used crafts clips that are super small to hold the cord up. The leveling blocks are from Amazon and they stack on each other. I think six came in the kit. You can put them together like legos.

As for the propane, we finally ran out in November. We used the one tank all year for hot water and cooking and eventually heat. We took a trip in November and decided to take a spare tank in case but we're able to complete trip. That remind me I need to refill this one. We do plan on getting another tank so we have extra for those longer trips without worrying.

Our door seal was a little off but Mark sent us door seal and my husband is going to reseal the door. Overall, we didn't get much dust because I put a full screen door on mine and that holds it back but expect once the new door seal is on, I won't get any. As for leaks, one time when it rained we had a few drops come on and we can't figure it out so once it gets warmer and we pull it out of the garage, we will wet it down to see if extra caulk is needed but the few drops that came in were hardly anything so not concerned.

Someone asked about a foldup shower floor. I picked up one last summer from Blue Ridge Chair Works. Super heavy duty wood, should last a lifetime. Truly a work of art and I'm happy with it. But, if you're cheap, ah, er, thrifty, you may want to think about just picking up a couple door mats. They are approximately the same size as my wooden gem, approximately 3' x 2', but don't cost as much, roll up nicely, or you could just leave them flat on the floor or trunk area of your tow rig.

I just use the floor mat from my truck. No unnecessary expense required.
