There is an easier way, if your carrying a tow strap or chain. I'll repost a link to a YouTube video on removing a rock stuck between dual wheels.

I considered the chain/strap fix but given some clearence issues from the storage box and holding tanks and without something to hook to on the side of the road I was on, the hammer way worked albeit some damage to my hand from the bottom of the storage box. I'm just happy the rock didn't fly out and take out the holding tank behind it or the wheelwell above. I took out the wheelwell on the other side when a tread decided to come off at highway speed.

At Jim's weight, the proposition of going to singles is a lot more expensive and complicated than on a Fuso size vehicle, where the the necessary tyres and rims are more common.

Since our tyre troubles in Cortez I've considered the possibility of switching to using 445/65R22.5. These tyres would negligibly increase the rolling diameter and would not have an effect on the rear axle load rating, however they would necessitate buying 5 new rims, and 5 new tyres, and they would undoubtedly have a detrimental effect on the steering and increase wear on the king pins. I also appreciate having a size of tyre available across the world, the 445/65 is a specialist tyre for sure.

The ability to air down, and the nuisance of getting rocks in the tyres should be a serious consideration for a travel rig and if I owned a lighter vehicle I wouldn't hesitate to switch to singles.

Yep, we are all hiding here in plain sight. :)
Welcome and feel free to ask any questions you may have. Promise we will not give you hard time if you cannot engage your front hubs.

Good looking rig there and welcome to the forum.

Looks like the camper is based off a standard truck cargo body. If it is, their tough and robust units, there's a whole industry devoted to their manufacturing and repair. Tell us more about it when you can. I for one would be interested to know what obstacles you've had to overcome to make it work.

Yeah it was one of my removal trucks,, originally a "TIP TOP bred truck" the pan is fibreglass ply and acrylic sheet on the outside.
The only real challenge is right now "WIRING" I'm not a sparky but i am pretty stubborn lol there hasn't been a tradesman here yet and
only will be when i absolutely need it.

There will be a crawl space from the cab to the back might be a bit tricky getting a good seal there as its two moving parts.

Any advice would be appreciated too :)

My advice... if you don't really need a pass-thru, don't put one in.
In your particular setup, losing a solid wall could have a detrimental effect on your usable space in the camper.

Too late its already cut...
Your right it wasn't really necessary but i don't think will be a problem as its behind the bedhead :)

Im going to use this wiring diagram as a basic outlay,, can you see any problem with it?

Looking at your diagram, you have a separate inverter, battery charger and AC switch. You may want to consider getting an "all in one" device.
As an example, I have a Victron MultiPlus which has a 3000VA inverter, 120A battery charger and a 16A AC switch. The Victron units are not all that cheap, but they are cheaper than buying all of the individual components and come with a 5 year warranty.
There are many other units like the Victron - some cheaper, some more expensive.

One of the nice things about most Victron products are that they are user programmable. If at some point down the track you decide to go down the LiFePO4 battery route, you can simply change your charge voltages to accommodate the different battery chemistry, meaning that you do not have to replace all of your electrical gear as part of a battery change-over.

And yes... as suggested, you should start your own build thread.

4x4 Rosa

Spotted these two 4x4 Mitsubishi Rosa's up at Porters skifield (NZ) last Friday. Basically they have Canter running gear but the bodies are a little light duty for any serious offroad work IMO...... I guess still perfect for this application. Anyone ever seen one converted to a camper?
