Thank you ! sorry that we didn`t replied quickly. We were waiting a mechanic who never came and we didnt want to bother you if another person would come. Finally the mechanic never came and your help would to be great.
NOw I think that the problem is in the distributor.
there`s gas in the carburetor and there´s spark in sparkplugs.
the carburetor made little explosions. The failure is like it is out of timing.
I think is distributor.
Today we are trying to find another mechanic. we`ll write you to tell you what will happen!
Thank you very much!
Now we are trying to find a mechanic.
Unfortunately i am out of town for the rest of the weekend, if you had replied this morning i could have changed my plans.
The backfiring through the carb sounds like a spark plug wire got plugged into the wrong position. Check and double check that the distributor is working correctly and the firing order is correct- that is likely what the "small explosions" are. Any vacuum leaks should be tracked down as well.
Verify that fuel is coming out of the tank and it isn't rust clogged.
Verify that the carb is getting fuel from the pump.
Try adding a small amount of gas to the carb to get it to fire up the engine. If it does then it is definately a fuel issue and you need to determine if it is before or in the carb.
I wish that i could have been better help for you.
Good luck
