How about the KLR vs XR650L while we're all arguing? Why does the KLR have all the bob mods that need to be done before you can ride it? Is it truly just a redneck machine? I personally crashed an XR650L and would like to know if it crashes better than the KLR, but my wife hasn't allowed me on a bike since. It was hard to argue standing there bleeding all over the place when she was my only ride home! This thread has been wildly entertaining!!
Dohickey on the KLR is not an issue since 2008. I put 20,000 on mine with no issue at all! Never did the thermobob (which by the way is done on many many motorcycles not just the KLR)...I don't know about crashes better, but for long distance riding the KLR is miles ahead of the XR because of the rider space. The 650's riding positon is exactly like my xr250s. Cramped...
