"A" frame design. The build is coming along quite nicely.
Having a problem posting pictures though.
Any thoughts?

Today I completed welding, except for the corner plates. I have to get a plate cut and weld. I sanded and primed/etched the steel. Ordering lock n roll hitch this week. Next will paint and wire the trailer and install lights. Phase 2 will be skeleton of camper.

Thanks. I ended up using Rustoleum Self Etching Primer. I sanded down the bare metal with 120 grit sandpaper, then wiped with mineral spirits and then washed with hot water and soapy degreaser to remove all residue. In reference to undercoating? On the frame itself I don't want to go with any of that thick rubberized stuff. Just a good hard shelled coating. On the floor I will use a bed liner rolled on and also 8 or 6 mil plastic as a protectant.

Observer
Following along. Looking good so far.
I am using the same axle/hub/leaf setup. I moved the perches in top of the axle for more tire clearance with a shorter fender, but that was only important because I'm not doing a teardrop.

Now that the base framework is just about completed, I turned my sights on the camper body. I have decided to make a actual size template of my design. I'm glad I did as I need to change some angles that were in my design book. I'm still working with it as I'm a perfectionist and like when things fit and go smoothly.

Today I picked up a temporary coupler, lights and wire. Just to wire the trailer . I could not resist hooking up to the Jeep and pulling it around the neighborhood. It is about 3 inches wider on each side but tracks very well. It also sits perfectly level. And even with the Jeep. I will wire and hook up lights tomorrow, along with closing up the end caps.

How does the weld look?
Well.... id say its stuck......
I see the tacks on either side, start on those not beside them and get the heat going. Push the weld dont pull. Arc in the center hold till the heat soaks and you get a good puddle then roll to the vertical and then zig zag on down the line in a consistent motion and spacing. OR fill the gap with wire til you see the toe of the weld at the desired width, advance towards your destination moving slightly further than need be and return to the end of the last puddle and fill 'er up again!!the weld looks a bit cold on the vertical tube, see the ridge it left on the edge? Also looks like it got cold in the middle as it is more domed.
Sorry if that didn't translate well im in the middle of a long work week.....in which I weld for a living....

So I have been kinda busy with work and other priorities. Just to catch up. I drilled and tubed holes in the back for lights. They are installed and working. Finished welding the trailer frame. End caps. Today I had some 1x1 delivered and I cut to size to match the template. On Saturday I guess I will start the welding on the cabin portion. Need to order water tank for floor, door, 2 side windows and a wide view window.20170318_123507.jpg20170318_123503.jpg20170322_183340.jpg

Progress is moving slowly as work and home life has picked up. Welded up a side and fitted a piece of the floor. Next 2 weekends are busy for me. Preparing 700 hunting acres with my hunting club. Will keep posting pictures as I go.
