So they run the split loom over lug ends? Yea. Looking at it mounted like this. I think its better inside?I’m not sure if the configuration of the 2/00 would allow it, but I’d recommend protecting the battery leads with split loom. The ambulance upfitter did that on my rig and it seems to be a good way to avoid unwanted battery explosions.
Yes. Thanks for the reply! Who was the outfitter for your ambo? Mine is a Leader build from here in Southern California. Im really happy with their build quality. I also have split loom on most every wire. It nice having that peace of mind with some extra protection. I am definitely adding some 3/4” split loom to my wires. Its cheap insurance.
for us electric newbs... can you shoot what a generic "split loom" is? Myself; Im great with concepts. just suck at knowing what the name of things are. There is bound to be a few like me out there lol.
Hi. And thanks for the post. Split loom covers electrical wires. I like black. But it can be white, grey, beige etc. and they come in all types of diameters depending on what needs to be covered. My battery cables are 00 double 0. Looks like a 3/4” diameter loom will cover it. The loom is like a corrugated plastic hose. And down the whole thing its been cut. So you can place what you need to protect inside. Rather than just have plain insulated wire. Its like an extra layer of coverage. My Leader ambulance build has most wires inside the split loom. ohhhhhh..... duhhhhhhhhh... brain dead...... don't know why my mind was drifting toward some sort of "Y" or some sort of means separating of a heavy gauge wire to split off in two directions.. duh..... massive hemorrhaging brain fart must have occured while reading things first time round......heck I even know what split loom is though always just called it a "wire loom".
