Molle style spice rack?

All of my windows have steel grids, similar to a molle panel, so I'm looking for a solution to hang spices in a neat row above my cook table on the rear door. A lot of molle pouches have elastic loops on the inside, but they are too tight, and the pouch/zipper is unnecessary. I've gone so far as thinking of buying and learning to use a sewing machine, but I thought I'd ask here if anyone has product ideas?

My simple ideas is (think of a shotgun shell holder): a strip of nylon fabric perhaps 18" long by 4" tall. A longer piece of elastic webbing would be stitched onto it, with suitable loop sizes. Then sow on some molle snaps to the back. It might need some sort of retainer on the bottom to stop spices from falling out.

Nice idea. If the test tubes are 18mm, and the holder 18.5, they'e going to fall out?

However... I prefer not to mess with organizing spices into different bottles... that's a real hassle with labels, refilling, etc, and end of the day (IMO) makes spices harder to pick out. Whereas looking at the original bottles triggers a sort of muscle memory. Though I see the potential benefit of it.

I think I'll have to attempt to make something custom as one of my favorite spices, slap ya mama, is in a rather large container.

What about a shotgun shell holder and just cut the stitch on some of the holders. For example make 2 spots into 1 large spot for spices. If you have a 6 shell holder and cut every other vertical stitch you could have 3 spice holders.

Removing the stitching is a good idea in theory, I think, but I feel like you'll either end up with a space too big or too small.

Sierra expeditions is nice! Looks a bit annoying to remove spices out of the top row.

I need a single row rack though. After doing some more thinking, a hard rack may be the way to go, caveat being that they can be secured well.

I have some scrap lying around, I think I can make a shelf out of king starboard (plastic). The backing plate made of aluminum strip, with rivet nuts, to slide behind the steel window guard, and the shelf screws in, sandwiching the window guard.

Then I could secure the bottles with something like this: https://www.amazon.com/COTOWIN-Blac...id=1522286098&sr=8-3&keywords=elastic+webbing

Thoughts? Any better ideas to secure the spices in the hard shelf? It would be cool to "unhook" the securing strap when cooking.

Here's a picture of my table for reference

I just bought a set of these for my JeepKitchen. Bet you could sew the white plastic bracket to something that is molle compatible. Cheap, simple, and IMO large enough that you won't need to refill them after each trip.

We use small magnetic spice containers like these and two of those Ikea magnetic knife holders in our camper. They never fall off. Also works well if you buy your spices in the metal rectangular tins.

I think we have a winner with the magnetic containers!

Woot woot! what do I win?

The containers themselves have magnets but they are not super strong which is why we use the knife holder. you could always glue some heavier magnets to the bottom of the container and do away with the knife holder.

Bonus tip for anyone that uses a sonicare toothbrush - the replaceable heads have really strong(rare earth?) magnets in them that are about 10mmx12mm and can be harvested easily when you replace heads. They are good for lots of stuff.

Boom, done, that was easy.

I made a quick little bracket, aluminum strip and a rivet nut, to secure the magnetic strip backing plate to the window guard. Love my rivet nut tool... has come in handy so many times.

Also added olive and vegetable oil using a molle water bottle pouch.

Thanks! Here it is spiced up.

The magnetic strip idea was key... If I had just used a piece of steel, the spice tins would surely have been flung everywhere when the door is closed.
