Mombasa RTT On Land Rover SD Rack (Pics)

Finally got myself a rooftop tent yesterday after traveling down to the DFW area after TRDPARTS4U contacted me and informed me that they had the Mombasa brand at the dealership. We got home a bit late last night but went ahead and installed it anyways. Finishing up a few little things during the daylight hours today and played around with it a bit. :sombrero:

The tent itself is awesome in pretty much every way. Even the mounting system worked great with the SafetyDevices rack after we took it upon ourselves to wrap a strip of rubber around nothing more than the part of the piping where the RTT bracket met and held onto. The padding inside is great, the rainflys are simple, and the wind doesn't even slightly bother it, even as windy as it was today.

Only thing I regret is I didn't get the extended ladder, which I need, obviously as you can see in the pictures. No problem at all though, will just have to wait a day or so for it. Have to give a big thanks to TRDPARTS4U for contacting me, working with me, and helping me out on the purchase too. :D

Just for the record, we also purchased the 'changing room' to go along with it, but we didn't put it on today due to the wind being a hassle.

I have seen a few owners modify their SD racks to move the tent down that extra 5" or so. There is a lot of leverage up high. If you notice the weight affecting handling/trail performance, consider dropping it down.

Yeah, if it proves to be a problem then we'll certainly do something about it. It'll have to be a very noticeable difference though to convince me to modify my SD rack and also lose a place to store the bridging ramps.

Got my ladder extension from TRDPARTS4U the other day, installed it, and had nothing better to do today so I figured I would go out and learn how to put the changing room on even if it was a bit windy. Sorry for the, yet again, crappy driveway shots. :sombrero:

Oh, and plus one to me for uploading these pictures and posting it from inside the rooftop tent. :p

I am about to mount an ARB rooftop tent on top of my existing full basket ARB roof rack and am curious to see exactly how you have mounted yours on top of your rack.

Can you post up some details and shots?

Thanks.

Sure thing, give me a couple hours and I'll go take some of how it mounts.

Congrats on the tent that's a great looking rig and setup you have.

Thanks. :sombrero:

That is mounted with the the equipment supplied with the tent. Aside from the rubber hose.

Where did you get that extended canopy?? I have a Mombassa too and have never seen one of those? Do you like it?
