A quick Meet 'n Greet was put together out on Montauk Long Island Saturday since UJoint was up from North Carolina for a few days.
Jenn and I left at 7:30am for the long stressful drive down to the island. We opted to drive around instead of taking the ferry. While it would have been faster and less stressful (no NYC) to take the ferry, it would have also cost us $100 more since gas is cheap right now. After battling with traffic, yes even on a Saturday, we arrived at our meeting place in Riverhead, NY.
Then it was another hour drive to the very end of the island, Montauk. Montauk is a really beautiful place. Its one of my favorite places in the country, but you have to go through one of my least favorite places in the country to get there (NYC and western LI).
Trail Monkey was going to be meeting us there. UJoint, his cousin, Jenn and I walked around the lighthouse until that time.
I think that purse matches UJoints hoodie pretty well.
A former WWII pillbox that has fallen into the sea.
Then we met up with Trail Monkey at Camp Hero. A former military base that was operational during WWII. I love this place. While in College at Southampton I use to come here weekly for photography work. The best time to see Montauk is late fall, winter, and early spring. The summer months are a nightmare.
After some truck and trip talk we did a quick tour of the grounds. There are a lot of building to check out, so we kept it to what we could drive to.
