What is the etiquette for posting a members own CL ad if they have not gotten around to putting it in the portal classifieds first?

Been wanting a weekend warrior/road trip vehicle now that we have a 14 month old baby. Ideally want a VW Eurovan with just the bed option (full camper is $$$) but recently discovered the Gen2 Montero seats fold into a decent bed for emergency camping duty. This and the fact that it's less than 1/2 the price, decent fuel economy, reliability and a more than capable off-roader.

Have my eye on these 2 waiting for something closer to pop up...I know little info but any thoughts?

Actually love the cloth interior on this one

what is the timing belt interval on the SOHC 3.5 V6 and which is the best method for checking for valve stem seals leaking? Owning and working on Audis I'm used to oil consumption but all our cars are due to piston rings.

You will want the first truck. The second one is an LS which only has the 3.0L V6 and no rear locker. As for the timing belt interval, it is 60,000 miles.

In 97, Both LS and SR's have the 3.5L V6 and the 4.64 gears. lockers are optional on either, but NEITHER of these trucks has the orange sticker on the side of the console that usually tells the tale. I have seen some that had the locker button, but no sticker. That said, $3900 seems high for an LS (even if you prefer the cloth) with a dinged up bumper. But if it's in great shape and doesn't have a maintenance back-log it might be worth it.

My understanding was that in 97 (the transition year) 3.5L DOHC and the 4.64 gears were not available and the stock engine was the 3.5L SOHC and the gearing was 4.272 for LS and SR's...Have the seller take a photo of the plate under the hood and email it to you if the gearing is important to you.
