Monteros on craigslist

I know is a lot better to see the truck in person and all, but traveling sometimes yields the best results. Otherwise instead of paying a premium for work already done, get a good deal on something and spend more money and time to get it to where you want to be. I see a few gen 3 for sale in the Houston area. Gen2-2.5 are harder to find here. I bought mine with a few issues that I knew how to repair and I'm happy with it. If you are not confident factor the repairs you would want on the prospect and see if the seller is willing to agree on a better price. If you want rebuilt engine, pristine interior and exterior, and low miles be willing to pay for it, if you want cheap, pick only one other option not all of them combined. Sometimes people should ask themselves how much would I sell that car for if I was the owner?

This is a bit of a strange one: clean looking 2006 limited with a claimed 38k (!!!) miles. I called the guy and asked him about the history, said it was his dad's commuter (very short commute) and weekend hauler. I asked about any body work and he said yes, the hood, windshield, and windshield frame(!!) have been replaced after a tree limb fell on them. From my few texting interactions I could never get a good read on the guy, can't help but think the mileage is suspiciously low, not to mention the potential for poor body work and water leaks/rust down the road.

if he's the original owner he could've easily swapped the speedo and there is no way to check for it. I would look at the car itself to see how worn are the pedals, steering wheel, seats, buttons - basically if looks like it was used for a while

Exactly. I figured I just didn't want to commit to the 4 hour round trip to look at a car that at best has had a fairly large limb crash down on it, and at worst has a bunch more miles, and has had a large limb crash down on it LOL

The Aussie guys complain on Facebook about the odo being easy to reflash on the NM/NP and newer ones.
