Monteros on craigslist

Toasty

Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
One of my old rigs popped up on craigslist http://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/cto/4638740841.html

It's a shadow of it's former self but it's still salvageable if anyone wanted a cheap truck that they can pretty much beat mercilessly and drive over anything they ever wanted. The new owner has some stuff wrong and seems to have caused some issues but for 1000 (i'd offer up 800) bucks it won't take much to get it whipped into shape. I had a lot of fun with this truck, it's sad to see it now.

Here's what it used to look like

LOL, you will end up having tons of Montys in your driveway.

@sneakyninja; I admire it too. What if I buy it, how much can I pay you to do some touches for me to get it trail ready?

Probably not too much, depends on how much they "changed" When I sold it was completely up to date on services (new timing and tune up) the kid I sold it to replaced all injectors. The suspension was in good shape, They don't mention in the ad but it has long travel rear suspension, air locker rear, NP231 transfer case (2.72 ratio), gears are stock 4.63 (I can almost guarantee they didn't swap in 4.88's).

Worst case all new ignition and possibly an ECU or dizzy, both are cheap for 2.4 engines.

I'll Pm you my number in case you're serious

That's what I paid for mine about 2 years ago with 110 k miles, some clearcoat issues, and a rougher interior. I bet you could pick that one up for $2500-3000, which wouldn't be a bad price at all in my book, assuming the title is clean and it checks out mechanically.

Items of concern: The steering wheel should be leather wrapped, I'm not sure what's going on there, unless the leather was removed. Also, looks like it has a pinstripe which is not stock and a possible indicator of a repaint... and the passenger side front fender appears to be missing the pinstripe altogether. In fact, the front end of the car looks to be a different shade of green than the rear of the car...but it could just be the lighting.
