I made a CL ad on Friday night as a feeler to gauge the interest of buying my BMW, and 20 minutes later a buyer said he wanted it. Picked it up Sunday morning. Now I'm hunting for a Gen3 in the Galveston/Houston, TX area. I've sent out four emails today, and am waiting to hear back.

So, I went and looked at the last three in Houston this week.

First one is a turd. No oil in engine. Dealer lied about how long they had it. They wanted $6800. I laughed all the way home.

Second and third were sold.

Looked at two others today.

This one https://houston.craigslist.org/cto/5389168928.html was pretty dinged up. Filled with spider webs inside (I'm not scared of spiders, but it was creepy how many webs were in there). And there was rust on the bottom of the doors, and the along the door sills.

This one https://houston.craigslist.org/cto/5408411550.html was in Fair/OK condition, but the outside was covered in dings/scrapes and there was a good size ding in the passenger front fender. Worst part was the brakes. Owner says he replaced the master cylinder but didn't bother having the system bled. The pedal would go all the way to the floor before slowing down. Scary unsafe. It also pulled to the right pretty hard even at low speed.

I also checked out a 2002 Supercharged Xterra that was pretty worn out.

Not having any luck with local Monteros, and am having to broaden my make/model search. Might start looking at Toyota Sequoias soon.

first one mentioned needs work, hopefully not too much work is required, other wise may not worth it. just my thought.

A limited that clean (doubt it has rust if it's a virginia car) for 3k? I'd be ok with some maintenance.

it has to be towed. since won't start. how serious could be repairs?

yes, I did. it may be need fuel pump, or something else. so the issue I have is I can't verify anything else since Montero does not start /run. to me little too risky.
