Thought I would post up about the latest trip... it was a good time had by all. I met up with someone from another board who is a new member on Expo: KSKJ. They came over to Co to do some wheeling so we met up and ran a trail or two....

*drum roll*

We opted to start right off with Black Bear Pass and Imogene Pass with a trip to Yankee Boy Basin. :D

Day 2 was another great day of wheeling with beautiful weather

Started the day off by checking out some of the remote gulches and seeing what was hidden back there...

Ever feel like you're the center of it all?
128_0226s.jpg

After a few mines... it was off to Hurricane Pass
128_0233s.jpg

We heard news at Hurricane Pass that Poughkeepsie Gulch was open and that several built vehicles on 35"+ tires all had to be winched up the big obstacles... so we checked it out
128_0237s.jpg

We cruised down Poughkeepsie as far as we could before turning around and meandering back up.

But we made it back just in time for an awesome camp dinner!

Day 3...

Today the mighty Kansas trio headed south from Ouray and visited me here in Durango. We stopped at a bakery and decided to head North to Vallecito Resevoir and try out a trail there.

Weather was gray and the flies were buzzin
128_0268s.jpg

To start out we all had our doubts as we cruised down an easy gravel road around the lake... FOR-EVERRRRRRR!
128_0292s.jpg

But then we found the mud  In the mountains?
128_0269s.jpg

And suddenly the trail felt like backwoods Tennessee... mud, roots, trees... oh yes
128_0277s.jpg

There's no way I can relay jus thow steep this hill is... we didn't make it
128_0272s.jpg

Found another way around to a lookout over the Wimenuche Wilderness Area

Day 3 continued....

Then we found some more mud
128_0279s.jpg

OK so it's bigger than it looked :D
128_0280s.jpg

And into the mud KSKJ goes...
128_0281s.jpg

And into the mud KSKJ stays... (we won't go into the fact that the strap is attached to the CRD that flew through it)
128_0283s.jpg

After all was said and done we had some happy (and muddy) KJ's
128_0285s.jpg

128_0287s.jpg

128_0288s.jpg

KSKJ then got the unfortunate job of chasing the dust cloud back to Durango (but there was a brewpub awaiting their arrival)
128_0293s.jpg

In the end it was a perfect and incident-free trip... I'll be back there next week with a whole heap of new pics and a report to follow.
