Mounting a Core Trax system... need mounting advice.

Not to hijack your thread, but... What is the height of a core trax rail?

For example, if I wanted to recess a rail into a wood base, how deep would I need to route out the channel?

want to put this system on my tailgate. what would be the best way? Drilling and tapping holes? i want a strong hold and don't want to use the self-tappers that came with it.
