Mounting brackets for Scepter military fuel canisters?

Sorry, nothing new from me. Things got crazy at work and at home so I haven't really had time to do anything. I did manage to finally buy my first Scepter can so I have that on hand now to take measurements and figure out what I want to do with it. It appears doing singles fore and aft is the the best solution as far as placement.

I'm still working out the mounting bracket end of things, but I'm just about resigned to the fact that I'll probably have to fab something myself unless I want to drop $300 - $500 on brackets. I really don't see how people get off charging $150+ (worthless Canadian pesos) for a holder, when it's about $20 in steel and they're having them made over seas and/or have a fab system set up. If it was a one off thing I can see the higher price, but for a mass produced, simple item? not so much. I'm in the wrong business apparently. Frontrunner's are on the high side of reasonable at $90 (American Freedom Bucks) but once I factor in conversion and shipping it's just too much for me to justify.

I have a couple ideas, but it's just a matter of finding time to play around with it and to be honest...after a 10+ hour day welding at work I just want to go home, the last thing I want to do being more welding/fabbing. I'll probably just wait till things slow down, and then start puttering with it. I'll probably be doing a design similar to frontrunner's, using flat bar.

I appreciate the offer, but after exchange and shipping all the way up here to northern Alberta, it'll be pretty well the same as the ones I can find in town for $150.

I have another idea. Adopt me, so I can move to the States where everything's cheaper. :D

Are these mounts aluminum or steel?

Steel. They were made to mount on MRAPs although these are all new. Some still in the box although the boxes are pretty beat up.

Thanks! I'm ginning up a project in my head and wondering if these doubles might fill the bill.

Interesting that the Sceptor holders from Baja Rack are different prices. The fuel rack has a bit different top hold down. I have the one for the water cans.
I have a Front Runner RR and just drilled (and painted) holes to match the FR system. I no longer use it as I fabricated holders to allow the cans to lie flat so I now have the carrier sitting in my garage not being used.
If you are local and would like one the price is reduced.

Just wondering if anyone has tried the marine style cans? Besides not being able to interchange between fuel and water, and having a stinky fuel hose, they seem like a suitable option. They mount flat, and you could refuel without unloading. Mind you, they are meant for outboard motors, so maybe not such good fill rate through 1/4" hose.
